International Opportunities Preparing for
the Wide World of Sports As the world becomes smaller and smaller due to the forces of globalization, students in the Department of Sport Management and Media are encouraged to consider participating in some type of study abroad program. In recent years, majors in the department have studied in London, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Australia, and Germany. The department also has relationships with universities and organizations in Japan and Sweden. The Ithaca College London Center Program is the school’s oldest and most popular study-abroad destination. Once there, you will be able to choose from classes in the fine arts, communications, social sciences, humanities, theatre, and sport theory. Many students in the department have studied in London and completed their fieldwork or internship with sport organizations like Major League Baseball International, the London Towers (a professional men’s basketball team), and NFL Europe. For students
who are not able to commit an entire semester to a study abroad program,
a viable alternative includes the department’s International Sport Administration
Seminar which is offered on a yearly basis. Usually conducted in May
of each academic year, students travel to London for a two week period
and participate in a seminar with guest speakers from NFL Europe, Major
League Baseball International, Lord’s Cricket Ground, Arsenal Soccer
Club, London Broncos (Rugby League), Townleys Sports Lawyers, British
Olympic Association, Wimbledon, BSkyBSports and the International Cricket
Council. Pages Contact (jwolohan@ithaca.edu) Last Updated 03/29/04 |
