About NYSCEE

The New York State Council on Economic Education (NYSCEE), established in 1960, is an independent, non-profit organization, which works to promote the level of economic literacy of primary and secondary students throughout New York State through teacher training and curriculum development.

The Council acts as an advocacy group to promote and improve economic education at the state level and operates through 12 university based Centers for Economic Education in New York state.

The Council is one of 50 state councils affiliated with the National Council on Economic Education. The National Council develops curricula materials and makes available teacher resources through its web-site EconEdLink.

Mission:

To teach students how the U.S. economy works, and how these workings affect their lives by: Familiarizing them with basic economic concepts such as GDP, wages, profit, investment, labor markets, and presenting these concepts through materials which embody the latest teaching techniques, leading edge, web-based opportunities to teach and learn economics. Teaching them to make informed choices as employees, managers, consumers, and citizens. Providing them with an understanding of the basic institutions of both the American and global economic systems. Giving them training and insight into their future roles in the economy of New York State.
