Stress: Its Nature and Management

OnLine Course Assignment

SELF-ASSESSMENT ASSIGNMENT

Purpose: Our personality plays a role in the nature and amount of stress we experience as well as our ability and approaches we choose to manage stress. The purpose of this assignment is to give you some insight into your personality and behavior. A secondary purpose of this assignment is to assess the efficacy of the Internet as a means to assess personal characteristics.

Assignment: Go to Self-Assessment Tests (Cyberia Shrink Psychological Tests) where you can take self-assessment tests on topics such as procrastination, disordered eating, relationships, personality, anxiety, stress, time management, etc..

  • First, complete the test on resilience. Score your test and then discuss your results in relationship to psychological hardiness and resiliency, as discussed in Chapter 6.
  • Next, complete two other tests of your choosing that are broadly related to some aspect of stress management. There is wide latitude here in your choices. Score your two tests and answer the following questions:
    • What did your results reveal you in this specific area? (complete this question for both tests). Discuss your results relative to the information presented about that personality characteristic or behavior in the textbook (chapters 5 or 6).
  • Finally, what are the pros and cons of using such self-assessment tests on the web?

Your paper should be divided into four sections:

  1. Resiliency and psychological hardiness
  2. Second test and stress
  3. Third test and stress
  4. Self-assessment and the Internet

Submission: Submit your paper using the CourseInfo Student Drop Box.
