The Center for Health Sciences houses several clinics where students get hands-on experience. I love the personal attention we receive from the school's faculty -- it makes Ithaca even more special!

Built in 1999, the Center for Health Sciences houses the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences, as well as the Gerontology Institute and the occupational and physical therapy clinic. The center features up-to-the-minute technology at every turn: numerous labs and clinics offer services and multimedia resources in areas such as biomechanics, wellness, motor learning, exercise physiology, and pediatrics.
Students from different programs gain hands-on experience working together. For instance, occupational therapy and physical therapy students pool their knowledge to assist clients at the Center for Life Skills and in the occupational therapy and physical therapy clinic.
Interdisciplinary work continues in the Gerontology Institute, through which students from all majors make time to bridge the generation gap by holding art classes for the elderly, providing free tax-preparation services, or studying the relationship between an older person's living environment and overall quality of life. Students learn more about gerontological issues and careers through internships, research, and volunteer activities. In addition, the institute coordinates support programs involving the residents of Longview, a nearby facility for older adults.
