The Center for Life Skills
Built in 1999, the Center for Health Sciences houses the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences, as well as the occupational and physical therapy clinic. The center features up-to-the-minute technology at every turn: numerous labs and clinics offer services and multimedia resources in areas such as biomechanics, wellness, motor learning, exercise physiology, and pediatrics.
Students cheer each other on as they conduct tests in an exercise physiology class.
Students from different programs gain hands-on experience working together. For instance, occupational therapy and physical therapy students pool their knowledge to assist clients in the occupational therapy and physical therapy clinic and at the Center for Life Skills at Longview, a nearby facility for older adults.
Occupational therapy students assist older adults at the Center for Life Skills.
The Center for Health Sciences is also home to the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies, offering degree programs in aging studies, culture and communication, and legal studies, designed to teach students to draw on insights from many fields for solutions to the complex problems facing our world. The division encompasses the Gerontology Institute, International Programs, Project Look Sharp, the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, and the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity.
