The Roy H. Park School of Communications makes its home in Roy H. Park Hall, a high-tech facility that caters to television and radio broadcasting as well as photography, presentation, cinema, film, and multimedia development.
Producing a radio show for WICB
Future journalists have access to professional tools, such as AP ENPS, the premier broadcast newsroom computer system. Park is also home to state-of-the-art television and radio production facilities, as well as ICTV, the oldest student-operated television production organization in the world, and award-winning radio stations WICB and 106-VIC.
The weekly student newspaper, the Ithacan, is annually recognized as one of the best student weekly newspapers in the country, having won numerous national awards.
Students produce both print and web editions of the Ithacan.
Communications students use the Park Hall facilities to produce documentaries, video series, weekly television shows, websites and presentation materials, radio broadcasts throughout the day, and plenty more.
The Portable Equipment Center and Services (PECS) provides students with a vast array of film, photography, audio, and video equipment. Park houses editing suites, darkrooms, lighting studios, and digital imaging labs, so students can see their projects through every phase of production. The facility's professional staff is well equipped to answer questions and guide students' work.
Park Hall is almost home to the Department of Philosophy and Religion.
Assistant Professor Rachel Wagner leads a class on religious ritual on the web.
The coursework in this department, in particular the study of ethics and logic, can provide the foundation for almost any field of interest, from social work to business to law. Accordingly, students from across the College take classes here.
