Focus on Grants and Student Projects

Innovations in Math Education
Students studying to be math teachers have access to COMPASS (Curricular Options in Mathematics Programs for All Secondary Students), a national center at Ithaca College that is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and focuses on the effective implementation of innovative high school curriculum programs.
Our hard work hasn't gone unnoticed: much of the research happening on campus in psychology, mathematics, and computer science is funded by generous grants from leading science agencies.
For example, The National Science Foundation awarded two math-computer science professors a three-year Research Experience for Undergraduates grant that enabled students to collaborate with faculty in summer research programs. The students did additional work during the school year and presented their research at a professional conference.
Such an opportunity for developing research skills and producing scientific work is rare for undergrads. Ithaca is one of a relatively small number of primarily undergraduate institutions that received such a grant -- just another example of the unique advantages of an Ithaca education.
