Fundamentals Success Program

For new students in the School of Music!

FSP begins on Thursday, August 28th at 6:05pm in 3302 Whalen!

This program combines dedicated faculty instruction with undergraduate peer tutoring!

FSP is a clinic designed to develop and enhance skills in introductory music theory (MUTH 10100).  For the first seven weeks of Fall semester, FSP participants receive intensive supplemental support from Emily Ickes, FSP Academic Consultant, and from peer tutors. Sessions are held four times per week in 3302 Whalen Center for Music during the times listed below:

*  Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00-6:50pm

*  Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:05-6:55pm

These review sessions provide additional preparation for the homework assignments, quizzes, and most importantly the final exam.  Many FSP "graduates" say that the supplemental review sessions not only supported their understanding and comprehension of music theory, but they built lasting friendships with their classmates as a result of their participation.

The School of Music has found that FSP students often end up outperforming those students who enter our program with prior experience in music theory.

FSP is a partnership between the Ithaca College School of Music and Tutoring Services.  The Center for Academic Advancement is the umbrella unit for Tutoring Services, Academic Advising, the Office of State Grants, and Student Accessibility Services.
