Strategic Visioning Process

I’d like to remind everyone of the listening sessions that will be starting next week in the context of the strategic visioning process. The purpose of these sessions is to collect our thoughts on what academic excellence means in the context of the educational mission of Ithaca College. The Ithaca College Board of Trustees and President Tom Rochon announce the full details of a strategic visioning process that will be carried out during the 2008-9 academic year. Its purpose is to identify a short list of areas on which we need to focus in order to become stronger as a community of learners.

In an action passed unanimously on October 23, the board resolved that the process will begin with in-depth listening to the ideas and goals of the Ithaca College community. The resolution further stated that a proposed plan identifying specific priorities and programs in support of academic excellence will be presented to the board at its May 2009 meeting.

As I announced on Intercom last week, Ithaca College is embarking on a strategic visioning process that will clarify our vision of academic excellence, and help us take the steps needed to make that vision a reality.

As part of this process, I would like to personally invite the entire campus community to attend a discussion, hosted by a prominent alumnus, that will help focus our thinking and place our ideas and vision within a broader national context.
