Performance Studies

Founded in 1892 as a conservatory of music, the Ithaca College School of Music provides a comprehensive program devoted to excellence in performance and pedagogy. Among our faculty in the Department of Performance Studies are 38 full-time and 12 part-time faculty, each a specialist in his or her instrument or conducting area.

Undergraduate degrees include the bachelor of music in performance and the combined degree in performance and music education. Though this combined degree takes an extra semester, students graduates with both a performance degree and a music education degree. There is also a major in jazz studies.

At the graduate level, we offer the master of music in performance, master of music in conducting, and master of music in Suzuki pedagogy degrees.

In addition, students in all music degrees take their private instrument lessons from faculty in our department.
