Placement
During the preceding academic year all facilities with active affiliation agreements receive a request for placement slots for the following academic year. CCCEs at the facility provide Ithaca College information regarding the dates and types of placements that they have available to our students. The PT department compiles lists for students based on available slots for each course. The students review the lists and research their preferences utilizing the Clinical Education files and online resources to establish preferences. Students and the DCE/ADCE participate in advising sessions to assist students in establishing preference lists. DCE/ADCE and student utilize lottery numbers to select a placement site. The PT department notifies sites of student placements and requests confirmation.
Students may be reassigned due to site cancellation, student academic performance or medical need. When a cancellation occurs the student will work individually with the DCE/ADCE to secure an alternative placement site for the Clinical Education course.
POLICY:
1. Students are not permitted to contact CCCEs or CIs without permission from the DCE/ADCE.
2. Students must provide documentation as required by their site.
3. Students must arrange and pay for transportation and housing for each clinical education course.
