How to Apply & Cost
Current high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible to apply to the Ithaca Writers Institute.
- Complete the online application by May 15th. You may apply in two genres, but you will only be accepted into one.
- Upload a writing sample(s).
- For Poetry, 3–5 poems totaling no more than 10 pages
- For Fiction, Personal Essay, Sci/Fi Fantasy, 5–10 pages, double-spaced
All documents should be uploaded to the CampMinder system using your account username and password, created during the application process. If you're returning to your account to upload documents, visit the CampMinder LOGIN page, and click on the link for Documents.
There is no application fee. Early application is recommended. The deadline to apply is May 15, 2017. (After May 15, applications will be accepted on a space available basis only.) Online applications will not be considered complete until writing samples have been received.
For accepted students, payment of the program fee is due in full by June 1.
Tuition for the 2017 Ithaca Writers Institute is $2,330. This fee includes room and board in an Ithaca College residence hall, a campus meal plan, and all required activities.
Commuter rate: $2,050. This rate includes lunch and dinner. (Because program activities continue into the evening, meal plans are required for commuter students.)
Payment is due in full by June 1.
A limited number of need-based, partial scholarships are available for U.S. residents. We're sorry, but financial aid is unavailable for international students. The Financial Aid Request Form should be downloaded during the online application process, completed and uploaded to your online account. Requests for aid must be uploaded by April 15 to be considered.
