WRITING CHILDREN'S LITERATUREWRITING CHILDREN'S LITERATURE
Joan Marcus

This two-hour, one-time-only craft class is available to students who select the "craft" option for their afternoon track.

This class offers a sampling of material from our traditional Writing Children's Literature class, which introduces students to the skills necessary for writing chapter books for middle grade readers. Students will learn about children's publishing and participate in hands-on activities.

Stories and essay by Joan Marcus appear in The Sun, The Georgia Review, Fourth Genre, Laurel Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, The Smart Set, and elsewhere. She is a two-time winner of the Constance Saltonstall grant for upstate New York writers. Joan received her MFA in fiction writing from the University of Arizona and teaches fiction and creative nonfiction at Ithaca College.
