Hey, I'm Amy! I'm a junior at Ithaca College majoring in Television/Radio with a video production concentration and a minor in business. I really don't remember what got me into television; I wanted to be everything from a lawyer and teacher to a pastry chef (still do...after a successful career in TV). I have family friends who work at a television station and gave me opportunities to shadow them, and I think that's what finally drew me to television.
I hope to work for the NFL as producer someday. Football has become my passion and my first inkling that I wanted to do football production was in high school when I gave a presentation in class talking about an organism called flukes, and designed a game called "fluke football" to go along with the presentation. I got hooked on football from an early age when I was exposed to Penn State Football (both my mom and aunt are alumni...so I tend to bleed blue and white at times). Then came high school football. Being a member of the marching band, I traveled to every football game, and instead of sitting there clueless to what was going on, I was hanging with the guys and cheering on the team. College came and nothing really changed.
Football... and college
I jumped at the chance of working with Ithaca College Television
(ICTV) on "Bombers Football" covering all
the home Ithaca College football games and "The Gridiron Report" (a.k.a "Griddo")
which is the live highlights show airing
Sundays after the game.
I'll be producing "Griddo" in the fall of 2006 and hope to make the show awesome and go out with a
bang as a senior. I've also done some producing of another sports show as well called "Ithaca Sports
Weekly," which aired during the spring of 2005, featuring sports from Ithaca College, Cornell
University, and Ithaca High School.
During the Olympics, I was assigned as a logger (writing down important events) for a show called
"Olympic Ice" that was all about figure skating. Since I was located at Palavela (the figure
skating venue) I was able to go in and see all the events once I was done with work. I was also lucky enough to be
featured in the opening of the show.
