Introduction: A Dream Come True

My name is Jen Wojnar and I am 21 years old, and I am about to graduate from Ithaca College. Ithaca College was a school I swore I would never go to, because it is too close to my hometown. I decided to look at it anyway and I can say that coming here was the best decsion I have ever made. It really has helped to make my dreams come true, including the dream I have had since I was 11 years old of going to the Olympic Games.

In high school I was very active in marching band, choir, drama club, and yearbook. While in college I have spent much more time in the television studio. I am a Television/Radio major with a concentration in video production. I really miss being on stage and performing but I would not trade the experiences I have had while at Ithaca College for anything in the world.

I have worked on so many Ithaca College Television (ICTV) shows that sometimes I forget which ones I have been a part of. My sophomore and junior years I co-produced a show called "Upstate Reality," a thirty-minute field based show, highlighting what upstate New York has to offer tourists and anyone looking to have fun. It was a great experience and a lot of work, but it was the source of some of my greatest memories in college. I was lucky enough to have a fantastic crew who stood by me as we learned the ropes of television together.

My latest passion is radio. Last semester I was promotions director for the third best college radio station in the country, 92 WICB. This year it has become like a second home. I try to DJ as much as I possibly can, and my only regret in college is that I did not start doing radio sooner. If you like modern rock, this is the station for you! We broadcast all over central NY and on the web at WICB.org

Jen at the Olympics

In 1996 during the Atlanta Summer Games, I told my parents that I did not know how, and I did not know why, but someday I was going to work at the Olympics. My parents were as supportive as they could be of the ramblings of an 11 year old, but how do you even begin to respond to that? I saw the posters at Ithaca College looking for NBC Olympic interns and told myself that no matter what I was going to be one. I applied and was accepted. The day I got the letter in my email was insane; I'll always remember how excited I was and how my mom cried. It is so strange to think that one of my first major dreams in life came true.
While at the Olympics, I was a runner meaning I was doing whatever needed to be done. I logged some footage, and transcribe some interviews. I was lucky enough to help put together a reel that will be passed on to the Games of the future. I was so honored to be part of such a huge and life changing event.

The Future...

I graduate in May of 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Television/Radio. I will be heading to Chicago to work with a company called Drum Corp International in the web broadcast department. DCI is an organization that specializes in my first love, marching band. I am so excited to be working with a form of marching band again. I also get to travel all over the country to tape shows and meet with all different members of various drum corps.
