Robert B. Earl '07
2007–2008
Robert was a staff trustee and served on the Campus Life and Community Committee, the Educational Policy Committee, and the Finance Committee. He worked at the college as assistant director for career development.
Edward R. Eastman
1956–1969
As a trustee, Edward was a staunch supporter of the new campus on South Hill. He worked at IC, heading the student counseling services for many years. A booklet he penned, "How to Study," became mandatory reading for freshmen. In recognition of his long service to the college, Eastman Hall was named in his honor in 1968.
Richard K. Eaton '70
2012–2014
During his time as a trustee, Judge Eaton served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Trusteeship Committee. He was also a member of the School of Humanities and Sciences Advisory Committee. In 2011, he received the alumni association's Professional Achievement Award.
Greg D. Eichman '88
1986–1988
Greg was a student trustee, and remained involved with the college after graduation. He volunteered for many years with the Boston IC community and was instrumental in establishing the Boston Regional Alumni Group in the early 1990s.
Edward C. Eisenhart
1970–1979
As a trustee, Ed served on the Executive Committee, the Development Committee, and the Resources Committee. He helped create the President's Associates, IC's annual leadership giving program, and he spearheaded the fundraising campaign for a major improvement and expansion of the library.
Karen B. Emnett '03
1998–2001
Karen was a staff trustee, and served on the Annual Fund Subcommittee, the Audit and Finance Committee, the Campus Life and Community Committee, and the Institutional Advancement Committee.
Frederick T. Estabrook, M.S. '93, Parent '06
1988–1990
Fred, a staff trustee, began his career at IC in 1982 as a graphic services specialist. He was later promoted to manager of Graphic Design Services, a role he held until his retirement in 2008. He then taught part-time in the Park School of Communications until 2012.
Nancy S. Fairchild '87
1984–1986
A graduate of the School of Business and later an employee at the college, Nancy was a staff trustee.
Caroleen A. Feeney '86
2004–2014
As a trustee, Caroleen was a member of the Campaign Steering Committee, the Campus Life and Community Committee, the Institutional Advancement Committee, and the Trusteeship Committee. She actively supported the campaigns for the Athletics and Events Center and the renovation of Dillingham Center. She also established the Leesa M. Noury Alumni Guest Artist Memorial Fund, which brings alumni and theatre students together.
Francille M. Firebaugh
2000–2010
While on the board, Francille served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee, the Educational Policy Committee (which she chaired for five years), the Executive Committee, and the Presidential Compensation Committee. She also created the Francille M. and John D. Firebaugh Scholarship in Gerontology, which is awarded to outstanding students in the aging studies program with financial need.
Clinton B. Ford
1967–1992
Following his 20-year tenure on the board, Clinton was named an honorary trustee. In 1983, the college awarded him an honorary doctor of science degree, and in 1984, he received the Meritorious Service Award. Clinton established the Clinton B. Ford Scholarship, awarded to talented string instrumentalists, and a fund for undergraduate science research. His estate helped create the Clinton B. Ford Observatory.
Thaddeus J. Fortin ‘81
2014-2024
During his years on the Board Thad chaired/co-chaired the Enrollment & Communications, Institutional Advancement/Campaign, Philanthropy & Engagement, and Executive Committees. He served on the college’s Business Advisory Council and the President’s Roundtable. He has provided internships for IC students, hosted new student welcome parties, and organized alumni get-togethers. He received the alumni association’s Volunteer Service Award in 2011. Thad’s 10 years of dedicated and distinguished service to the Board was honored by special proclamation.
Roland G. "Red" Fowler
1953–1992
During his tenure on the board, Red established the Friends of Ithaca College, an organization that strengthens the ties between the college and the local community. In 1974, Red retired from the board and was named an honorary trustee. The R. G. "Red" Fowler Scholarship was established in his honor in 1984, and six years later, he was awarded the alumni association's Meritorious Service Award.
John Fracchia
2008–2011
During his time as a staff trustee, John served on the Institutional Advancement Committee, the Campus Life and Community Committee, and the Finance Committee. John is the associate director of the college's Office of Career Services, and he volunteers for the IC Mentoring Network.
Sydney S. Fredericksen
1982–1984
An employee at Ithaca College, Sydney served as assistant to the budget director and as program assistant in the Office of International Programs. In addition to serving the board as a staff trustee, she also served on Staff Council and the Academic Calendar Committee.
W. Kent Fuchs
2010–2015
Kent served on the board during his tenure as provost at Cornell University. As a trustee, he sat on many committees, including Assessment, Educational Affairs, Educational Policy, and Finance.
Steven N. Fuller '84
1982–1984
Being a trustee was only one of Steven's activities as a student at IC. He was the director of the Independent Student Coalition, a resident assistant, and a member of the men's track and field team from 1981 to 1983. He received the Campus Life Award his senior year.
John E. "Jack" Gallagher Jr. '69
2004–2012
In his eight years on the board, Jack served on the Campus Life and Community Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Investment Committee. In addition, he established three scholarships at IC: the Florence Marro Gallagher Memorial Scholarship, in memory of his mother; the John Edward Gallagher Sr. Endowed Scholarship, in memory of his father; and the Washington, D.C., Scholarship for Summer Internships.
Harold R. "Bud" Garrity '68
1989–2007
During his tenure, Bud served on every one of the board's committees. He was active off the board, too, chairing the committee to celebrate the college's centennial and serving for many years as a member of the IC Alumni Association Board of Directors. In 2010, he was named director emeritus of that board. Bud also has the distinction of being Ithaca College's first full-time director of annual giving.
David A. Giannotti '69
2008-2018
On the Ithaca College board of trustees, David served as chair of the Audit Committee, and on numerous other committees including Buildings and Grounds, Executive, and Finance. He also served the college as chair of the Los Angeles Campaign Committee, a President's Associates volunteer, and a member of the Athletics and Events Center National Committee.
Raphael Y. "Rafi" Golberstein '06
2004–2006
Rafi was a student trustee and remained involved with IC after his graduation. As an alumnus, he volunteered with the Metro New York Campaign Committee and was a member of the Young Alumni Leadership Council and the Ithaca College Hillel Alumni Committee.
Irene L. Gomberg
1994–2007
Irene served on a wide range of committees during her time on the board, as co-chair and then chair of the Educational Policy Committee, and as chair of the Audit and Finance Committee. She has remained an ally of the college and continues to support the IC experience.
Adelaide Park Gomer
1996—2007, 2008—2017
Adelaide has been president of the Park Foundation board since 2009 and previously served as its vice president. The foundation helps meet the needs of underserved populations in Tompkins County, New York, while also awarding grants for scholarships, independent media, and the environment. She previously served as a member of the Audit and Finance, Buildings and Grounds, and Campus Life and Community Committees. Adelaide has been involved with IC in numerous other ways, including her establishment of the Park Center for Independent Media. Adelaide's independent philanthropy is focused on protecting democratic ideals and preventing political corruption by focusing on the impact of corporate and neoconservative money in politics.
Robert D. Grant '51, Parent '74, '76
1973–1976
Bob's tenure on the board as a staff trustee was just one of many ways he was involved in the life of the college. He was a member of the IC Alumni Association Board of Directors and took on an additional leadership role with his reunion class committee. In 1996, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award. He was also a longtime employee of IC, first as an athletic trainer, then as a physical therapy instructor.
Elijah T. Greene '18
2016-2018
Elijah was a student trustee, and served as a member of the Educational Affairs and Investment Committees. He was the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, and was president of the college's chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA).
Gary J. Gross '81
2017-2024
During his tenure on the board, Gary was a member of the President's Roundtable and a part of the Blue & Gold Society. He served as a member of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, Finance and Investment Committee, Philanthropy and Engagement Committee, Governance and Compensation Assessment Committee, and Executive Committee. He also served as co-chair of the Marketing and Enrollment Strategy and vice chair of the Academic Affairs and Student Experience Committee.
Charles R. Hack '69
2016-2019
As a trustee, Charles served on the Academics & Student Affairs and Finance & Investment committees. He is a dedicated and generous supporter of the School of Music, funding student performances at New York City's Lincoln Center and establishing a talent-based scholarship for music students.
Gustave Haenschen
1946–1979
In 1945, Gustave received an honorary doctor of music degree from Ithaca College and a year later became a member of the board. He introduced the idea of hosting a Commencement Eve concert and conducted at the first in 1968. His legacy at IC is furthered through the Gustave Haenschen and Gretchen Haller '24 Music Scholarship, which is awarded to a deserving student in the School of Music.
Elizabeth Hagin
1990–1992
Elizabeth was a staff trustee and served on the Institutional Advancement Committee. She worked at Ithaca College as an administrative assistant from 1971 until her retirement in 2004.
Jason Hamilton
2010–2013
Jason, a faculty trustee, served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee, the Campus Life and Community Committee, and the Educational Policy Committee. He began his career at IC in 2001 as an assistant professor of biology and is currently professor and chair in the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences. He received the Faculty Excellence Award in 2012.
Raymond G. Hamlin '64
1984–1989
In addition to his work as a trustee, Ray volunteered with the college's Office of Career Services. He was elected to the IC Alumni Association Board of Directors in 1975, serving as president from 1981 to 1990 and now as director emeritus. In 1992, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Murray Handwerker, Parent '72, '76
1977–2011
Elected to the board in 1977, Murray served on several committees and was chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Investment and Finance Committee. Upon his retirement from the board in 1994, Murray was designated an honorary trustee. IC's Handwerker Gallery is named for Murray and his wife, Dorothy, in recognition of a gift the couple made in 1977 to establish a permanent space on South Hill for the exhibition of art.
Michael R. Hanna
1957–1978
In 1941, Michael founded the college's radio department and was its first instructor; he would later be instrumental in helping to develop the college's present location on South Hill. The Park School's Michael and Lola G. Hanna Broadcast Center is named in his honor, as is the Michael Hanna Television-Radio Scholarship, awarded to television-radio students who demonstrate outstanding promise and performance in communications management. In 1955, the college awarded Michael an honorary doctor of laws degree.
Stephen P. Hansler '82
1980–1982
An active student, Stephen served the board as well as the Student Government Association and the Student Congress. He was also a member of Phi Alpha Theta.
John B. Harcourt, Parent '79
1974–1977
In 1953, John joined IC's English department, and in 1974 he became a faculty trustee. That year he was also named the Charles A. Dana Professor of English. In 1982, he received the Meritorious Service Award and was made an honorary alumnus. John was the author of The Ithaca College Story and was appointed college historian in 1984.
John E. Heselden
1982–1996
John served on many different committees during his time as a trustee, chairing the Executive Committee for a year. He helped establish the Freedom Forum Special Projects Fund in 1988 to support the James J. Whalen Academic Symposium.
Doreen Hettich-Atkins
2011–2014
Doreen, a staff trustee, began working at IC in 2004 and is currently the coordinator of special services and programs for student affairs and campus life. During her time on the board, she served on the Educational Affairs, Educational Policy, Enrollment and Communications, and Finance and Institutional Advancement Committees. She continues to volunteer as part of the IC Mentoring Network.
Stephen R. Hilbert
1992–1995
Steve was a faculty trustee. During his time on the board, he served on the Audit and Finance Committee, the Educational Policy Committee, and the Institutional Advancement Committee. He retired from the Department of Mathematics in 2014 and was named professor emeritus in 2015.
Marjehne A. Hoefer, Parent '74
1978–1980
Marjehne was the first staff trustee elected to the board. She started working at IC in 1978 as secretary to the dean of what is now known as the Park School of Communications. Later, she served as the assistant to the dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences until her retirement in 1989.
