London Faculty Sabbatical Program

For almost twenty years, the Office of International Programs and the Ithaca College London Center have sponsored a faculty sabbatical opportunity in London.

General Information

Faculty applications for the London Sabbatical Program are typically due mid-December for the upcoming academic year. A call for interested applicants will be made via Intercom announcement (see latest Intercom announcement). Recipients for the upcoming academic year will be announced by Spring Break. Applicants should be eligible for an approved and funded sabbatical from their School covering faculty salary either for the relevant semester. The selected faculty members are expected to teach one course complementary to the London Center curriculum (not compete with courses already offered), interact with London Center instructors and students, and attend London Center faculty meetings and gatherings. A course with an ICC designation is preferred.

In exchange for teaching one course (assuming sufficient enrollment) appropriate to the London Center experience, the selected faculty member will receive one round trip economy airline ticket to London from the nearest major airport, the use for one semester of the College’s 2.5 bedroom house in Collier’s Wood, and access to the London Center facilities. Family members may accompany the faculty member at the faculty member’s expense.

The College is not able to provide special equipment, computers, musical instruments or other amenities. Please note that K – 12 education will not be available to accompanying minors unless they are eligible under UK law. The children of previous sabbatical recipients have not been eligible. The sabbatical faculty member is invited to participate in college field trips (currently, Bath and Stratford each term) with ICLC students; any accompanying family members must pay for the cost of participation.

Application Requirements

  • Letter of application
  • Brief C.V.
  • Evidence or statement of teaching excellence
  • Outline of the course proposed for the London Center
  • Letter indicating their dean’s support for an approved sabbatical during the relevant semester
