I’m a senior with passions for both documentary film and religious studies. I spent this past summer studying abroad in South Korea, where I produced a documentary exploring alternative queer spaces in Seoul. In August, I worked as a set production assistant for Fisher Films in Knoxville, Tennessee. Now, I am extremely excited to be back in Ithaca working on my thesis documentary project!

This coming year, I will continue working as the video director for Passion Project - a digital magazine publication for students to express themselves creatively - and as a contributing writer for Buzzsaw Magazine. I will also be collaborating with faculty in the Religious Studies department to publish some of my academic writings on the intersection of religion and popular culture. In addition, I’m very excited to get back out into the Ithaca community through two service projects. For individual service, I will be tutoring an elementary school student one-on-one through The Village at Ithaca. And for group service, I will be helping facilitate an art club for students at Beverly J. Martin Elementary School.

Overall, I am looking forward to my final year here at Ithaca College, and cannot wait to see where my film and religion degrees take me post-graduation. I plan to pursue a master's degree in Islamic Studies. I hope one day to combine my skills as a filmmaker with specialization in the academic study of religion by producing media content that advocates for religious freedoms and cross-cultural understanding in the United States.
