I am a fourth-year student studying journalism and sociology with a focus on the intersection of sport and social justice. Over the summer, I worked with RISE, a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations. In this role, I helped develop programs and curriculum in diversity, equity, and inclusion that would be shared with youth, collegiate, and professional sports teams. This fall, I will continue working with RISE focusing on leadership and civic engagement in sport.

This summer, I also worked with Gotham FC, a team in the National Women's Soccer League and acted as a liaison between the community members and the team. In organizing and assisting fan events pre- and post-matches, I adhered by the Gotham FC mission to empower and uplift community by creating an inclusive and safe environment using Women’s Soccer as a tool to help eliminate barriers and ensure equal access to opportunities, resources, and advancement.

This Fall, in addition to continuing to work with RISE, I am writing for the sports section of The Ithacan and serving as the Vice President of Phi Kappa Phi, the national honors society focused on the principle of letting “the love of learning rule humanity.” I will also continue my service with the Village at Ithaca to advocate for educational equity and excellence for all students, particularly Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino/Latinx, low income, and any other underserved students within Tompkins County.
