Benefits of Our Services

Our interprofessional teams of faculty and students from Ithaca College representing the departments of occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, and the Gerontology Institute use an interdisciplinary approach when providing services. Together, our staff deliver programs to participants focused on:

  • Gaining independence
  • Improving communication
  • Practicing life skills
  • Socializing with peers
  • Increasing functional level
  • Increasing leisure skills

Services We Offer

The following services are provided by licensed therapists and their students:

  • Physical therapy programs

  • Occupational therapy programs

  • Speech therapy programs

Eligibility and Participation Requirements

Participants should be individuals who have experienced a cerebrovascular accident (stroke) and have residual deficits that prevent them from fully participating in the activities that would improve the quality of their life. Participants must have a medical clearance from their physician and must have sufficient endurance to participate for the duration of the program. All participants will be assessed with an initial evaluation and with the Stroke Impact Scale, Version 2.0. Participants will need to display minimal difficulty with supervision needed in at least three of these five areas:

  • Mobility
  • Communication
  • Leisure/Recreation
  • Memory/Thinking
  • Daily Living Skills
