Ithaca College was the first school that I visited outside of New York City and it quickly became my home away from home. It was the environmental change I needed in order to thrive in higher education. Through the preprofessional program, I discovered therapeutic recreation. After exploring different curriculums, I decided that this major best suited me. Looking at the many minors that Ithaca College offers, I was excited to see that they offered a deaf studies minor. American Sign Language (ASL) was always a language of beauty and fascination for me, so when I had the chance to take ASL classes, I was thrilled! After graduation and working for a little, I plan to move back to Australia. I plan to obtain my master’s in public health, as well as advance the field of therapeutic recreation in Australia.

Doing my clinical at the Center for Life Skills at Longview was definitely one of the most memorable experiences I've had at Ithaca College. Having the opportunity to work alongside my peers and serving community members who appreciate our services was incredibly meaningful. The unique experience of Ithaca College providing a space where we can have interdisciplinary work before going into the field is invaluable.
