About Miles:

Miles Wheaton is a Junior studying Chemistry in the School of H&S at Ithaca college, with a minor in mathematics. Since the spring semester of his freshman year at IC, Miles has been involved in chemistry research with Professor Anna Larsen. He has worked on a number of projects such as synthesizing small ligands to produce coordination compounds with interesting magnetic properties, as well as NMR studies of iridium-pincer complexes. Over the summer, Miles participated in the 2023 Catalysis and Motion Chemistry REU program at Penn State University, where he synthesized several ruthenium pincer complexes while working in the Kuo Lab. At the moment, Miles is primarily interested in traditional organic and organometallic synthesis, although at some point he would like to try branching out towards electrochemistry. In the future Miles plans to pursue a graduate degree in chemistry.
