This award is given to a student majoring in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or physics based on academic excellence, faculty nominations, and demonstrated financial need. Rebecca Diafabio '16 is the recipient of the Morris Family Foundation Scholarship.
I grew up in a small town in central New York called Auburn. My entire life the sciences have amazed me and made me really question how the world works, but it wasn’t until my sophomore year in high school that I knew I wanted to be a biochemistry major. My high school chemistry teacher, Mr. McGinn was completely fascinating and more often that he probably should have, did experiments with us that involved combustion reactions. After that year of chemistry, I knew that I needed to go into the sciences. Between that class and AP biology, I figured that biochemistry would be the perfect melding of the two disciplines.
