The Department of Mathematics will host a summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in dynamical systems in 2021. We have support for nine students through an NSF REU Site grant. This program is supported by Ithaca College and the National Science Foundation.

Program Dates: June 2-July 30, 2021

Program Details

Students will spend eight and a half weeks at Ithaca College, in beautiful Central New York, working with faculty from the Department of Mathematics on a research project in dynamical systems.  Three different project areas are described below.

Each student will receive a stipend of $5,100 and an allowance toward on-campus housing and meals.   Partial support for moving expenses will be provided.  Funds for travel to conferences are available through support from the NSF.

Who Should Apply:

The program is restricted to students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, who are current undergraduate students, and who will be undergraduate students in the fall semester of 2021.   Students from underrepresented groups, including women, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Selection Details:

Preference will be given to students who have completed introductory multivariable calculus and linear algebra. Preference will be given to applications received by March 1, 2021. Applications will be reviewed starting on March 1 and will continue to be reviewed until all positions have been filled.
