In your first year, you begin your journey by combining introductory theatre and script analysis classes with acting, stagecraft, technical theatre, design and a wide variety of liberal arts courses.
In your second year, you begin your study of the history of theatre, dramatic literature, a minor or second major, as well as your exploration of specialties such as directing, playwriting, or dramaturgy.
Most juniors spend one or two semesters abroad in London or other study abroad programs. Students continue their studies in dramatic literature, Shakespeare, and continued specialties in playwriting, dramaturgy, or directing.
Senior theatre studies majors are completing their studies with upper-level courses in history, theory and contemporary developments in the theatre; students are encouraged to pursue a senior project such as an independent research project, dramaturgy or writing a play, directing a one-act. Many seniors pursue internships in their chosen field directly following graduation.
