Graduate Assistantships

About the Awards:

These competitive awards provide a tuition scholarship and a stipend to compensate students for assisting with various assigned duties including:

  • Teaching in our Summer Music Academy (middle school and high school divisions)
  • Offering assistance to music education faculty in research projects

Assistantship awards are split between tuition scholarship (3 credits per summer) and a stipend, which, when combined, cover about 30% of tuition costs. Assistantships may be held for up to three summers. The awards have a cash value of approximately $3000 per summer.


Graduate assistantships are available for applicants pursuing full-time enrollment during the summer session in music education program.


To apply for an assistantship, applicants must complete the general admission requirements, and in addition:

  1. Indicate your intentions on the online application
  2. Submit two additional letters of recommendation (for a total of four letters) with your application
