What's Next for Our Students & Alumni

School of Music students and alumni work in almost every music and music-related field imaginable, from professional performance to teaching, arts administration, composition, music merchandising, instrument repair and manufacturing, music publishing, sound recording, and the entertainment industry.

Several of recent graduates and current students have shared their plans for summer 2019 and beyond, which we have compiled into the list below. If you have an update you’d like to share, email osheila@ithaca.edu. We’d love to hear from you!

Here are just a few examples of what School of Music alumni and current students are up to:

  • Internship with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra
  • Participation at the Aruba Symphony Festival and Rafael Méndez Brass Institute
  • Participation at the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina
  • Soloist at the ten-time world championship Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps 
  • Employment at international touring audio company, Eighth Day Sound
  • Internship with Tony Volante (sound designer and mixer for Harbor Picture Company in Manhattan)
  • Basic training and employment with an Army Band
  • Lead trumpet in the Cadets 
  • Collaborative pianist for Interlochen Center for the Arts
  • Collaborative Piano Institute at Shattuck St. Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota studying collaborative piano with renowned faculty including Martin Katz, Rita Sloan and Timothy Lovelace
  • Conducting fellow at the Baylor International Conducting Masterclass and Young Artist Program 
  • Doctoral studies in choral conducting at University of Colorado-Boulder
  • Attendance at the Seraphic Fire Professional Choral Institute at the Aspen Music Festival and School
  • Singing the role of Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro with Prague Summer Nights in Prague
  • Attending the International Performing Arts Institute in Kiefersfelden, Germany
  • Attending Boston Conservatory for a master’s degree in vocal pedagogy
  • Attending Arizona State University as a graduate assistantship for the bassoon program
  • Maintaining a thriving private bassoon studio
  • Signed by The Mine agency in NYC
  • Attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art for master’s degree
  • Numerous K-12 music teaching positions throughout the United States
