2020-21 Audition Process

Details below highlight changes made to the audition process for the 2020-21 season.

In light of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the School of Music has modified its audition procedure to ensure the health and safety of our prospective students, faculty, and staff. We are excited to offer meaningful opportunities to engage with our campus community, all from the comfort of your own home.

2020-21 Audition Options

Applicants will be able to select from the following audition methods, which will be indicated when submitting their Audition Form:

Our virtual live audition process will be built around four audition day events, similar to previous seasons. Each audition day will include a variety of opportunities to engage with members of the School of Music community, including a welcome event, studio-specific meetings, Q&A, and an opportunity to hear from a Student Financial Services representative. This will also include an audition with faculty, a sight-singing hearing, and any interviews required for specific degree programs.

If you are unable to join us for a virtual live audition, you can prepare and submit a video-recorded audition for admission consideration. These materials would need to include the necessary audition requirements for your instrument and degree. Video-recorded auditions must be submitted by January 15.

Information regarding acceptable electronic formats can be found here.

If our virtual live audition dates are not available for you, we would encourage you to request a special audition. These virtual auditions can be set up individually with faculty if given enough heads-up. Special auditions would still need to complete the necessary audition components (ie. sightsinging hearing and necessary interviews), which would be scheduled in collaboration with the Music Admission Team.
