Oboe Audition Requirements - Undergraduate

Degree Page: Composition (BM)

Note: audition only required for instrumental emphasis (private lesson) consideration

  1. Two prepared solo pieces in contrasting styles
  2. Major or harmonic minor scales
  3. Sight-Reading

Degree Page: Music (BA)

  1. Two prepared solo pieces in contrasting styles
  2. Major or harmonic minor scales
  3. Sight-Reading

Degree Page: Music Education (BM)

  1. Two prepared solo pieces in contrasting styles
  2. Major or harmonic minor scales
  3. Sight-Reading

Degree Page: Music in Combination with an Outside Field (BM)

  1. Two prepared solo pieces in contrasting styles

  3. Sight-Reading

Degree Page: Performance (BM)

  1. One complete major work -- a concerto, sonata, or suite
  2. Two smaller works (or movements from a major work) of a contrasting style
  3. Major and harmonic minor scales
  4. Sight-reading

  1. One complete major work -- a concerto, sonata, or suite

Degree Page: Sound Recording Technology (BM)

Note: applicants must submit a pre-screen audition recording (review requirements)

Oboe Audition Requirements - Graduate

Degree Page: Music Education (MM, MS)

Prepare the following for a 15-minute audition:

  1. Elements of technical preparation such as scales and arpeggios.
  2. One complete sonata, concerto, or suite.
  3. Two or three additional works representing various periods of standard repertoire (Baroque, Classic, Romantic, or Contemporary). These may be single movements of longer works.
