Flute Audition Requirements

Degree Page: B.M. Composition

Additional Application Requirements:

  1. Two (2) scores of original works (with sound files, if possible). 

Audition Requirements:

  1. Two (2) works of contrasting style.
  2. Major and harmonic minor scales in two (2) octaves; chromatic scale (from C to C) in three (3) octaves.

Interview Requirements:

  1. Speak with a member of our Composition faculty and ask any specific questions you may have about the Composition degree program.

Audition Requirements:

  1. Two (2) works of contrasting style.
  2. Major and harmonic minor scales in two (2) octaves; chromatic scale (from C to C) in three (3) octaves.

  1. Speak with a member of our Music Education faculty to discuss any teaching experiences you have had, share any future teaching aspirations, and ask any specific questions you may have about the Music Education degree program. Approximately 10 minutes.

Degree Page: B.M. Music in Combination with an Outside Field

Audition Requirements:

  1. Two (2) works of contrasting style.
  2. Major and harmonic minor scales in two (2) octaves; chromatic scale (from C to C) in three (3) octaves.

Audition Requirements:

  1. One (1) complete major work -- a concerto, sonata, or suite (all movements prepared).
  2. Two (2) smaller works (or movements from a major work) of contrasting styles to each other and the complete major work.
  3. Major and harmonic minor scales in two (2) octaves; chromatic scale (from C to C) in three (3) octaves.

  2. Three (3) scales and arpeggios of your choosing.

Audition Requirements:

  1. Two (2) works of contrasting style.
  2. Major and harmonic minor scales in two (2) octaves; chromatic scale (from C to C) in three (3) octaves.

  1. Meet with members of the SRT faculty, practice critical listening skills, and discuss your background in audio engineering thus far. Approximately 20 minutes.

  • Chaminade Concertino
  • Enesco Cantabile and Presto

Two (2) works of contrasting style comparable to:
