Horn Audition Requirements

Degree Page: B.M. Composition

Additional Application Requirements:

  1. Two (2) scores of original works (with sound files, if possible). 

Audition Requirements:

  1. Major scales, one (1) octave.
  2. One (1) multi-movement composition or three (3) works of differing styles.

Interview Requirements:

  1. Speak with a member of our Composition faculty and ask any specific questions you may have about the Composition degree program.

Degree Page: B.A. Music

Audition Requirements:

  1. Major scales, one (1) octave.
  2. One (1) multi-movement composition or three (3) works of differing styles.

Degree Page: B.M. Music Education

Audition Requirements:

  1. Major scales, one (1) octave.
  2. One (1) multi-movement composition or three (3) works of differing styles.

Interview Requirements:

  1. Speak with a member of our Music Education faculty to discuss any teaching experiences you have had, share any future teaching aspirations, and ask any specific questions you may have about the Music Education degree program. Approximately 10 minutes.

Degree Page: B.M. Music in Combination with an Outside Field

Audition Requirements:

  1. Major scales, one (1) octave.
  2. One (1) multi-movement composition or three (3) works of differing styles.

Degree Page: B.M. Performance

Audition Requirements:

  1. One (1) complete, multi-movement work from any historical period (concerto, sonata, or suite).
  2. Two (2) shorter works in contrasting style (may be individual movements from longer works).
  3. All major and minor scales, two (2) octaves, in quarter notes, quarter = 120 minimum.

Degree Page: B.M. Music Education & Performance

Audition Requirements:

  1. One (1) complete, multi-movement work from any historical period (concerto, sonata, or suite).
  2. Two (2) shorter works in contrasting style (may be individual movements from longer works).
  3. All major and minor scales, two (2) octaves, in quarter notes, quarter = 120 minimum.

Degree Page: B.M. Sound Recording Technology

Pre-screen Requirements:

  1. Two (2) pieces of contrasting styles.
  2. Three (3) scales and arpeggios of your choosing.

Audition Requirements:

  1. Major scales, one (1) octave.
  2. One (1) multi-movement composition or three (3) works of differing styles.

Interview Requirements:

  1. Meet with members of the SRT faculty, practice critical listening skills, and discuss your background in audio engineering thus far. Approximately 20 minutes.

  1. Major scales, one (1) octave.
