Monday Sessions (11/16)

  • 2:00 PM: Improvisation Using Simple Melodic Embellishment
    • Instructor: Prof. Mike Titlebaum
    • Description: Have your instruments and voices ready! We're going to make music, play tunes and do some improvisation exercises. This session is open to all musicians, regardless of instrument or prospective major.

    • Description: Want to learn more about the Composition program at Ithaca College? This is the session for you! Speak with our Composition faculty, as well as current students in the degree.

    • Description: Do you feel as if you practice, but things don’t stick or are inconsistent when you perform? Come to this session to learn some practice strategies that will improve your practice outcomes: to reduce your frustration and increase your enjoyment of playing.

    • Instructor: Prof. Rachel Schutz
    • Description: Would you like to improve your breathing while singing or playing? Join us to learn about breathing anatomy and gain new exercises to improve breath efficiency.

Wednesday Sessions (11/18)

  • 3:00 PM: Developing Listening Skills – Takadimi Solfege and Meter-as-Heard
    • Instructor: Prof. John White
    • Description: Would you like to develop your ability to hear aspects of meter in the music you listen to? Learn the basics of Takadimi rhythm solfege while applying it to music examples from many different styles of music (European classical, pop, rock, jazz, etc.). Meter-as-heard refers to how you actually hear (or feel) meter when listening rather than how you imagine it being notated, which leads to more accurate (and useful) descriptions.

Do you want flexibility to pursue interests that can prepare you for the multifarious demands of 21st-century musical careers?
