THEORY

Content Knowledge: The music theory graduate demonstrates a rich, thorough understanding of content and skill knowledge pertaining to mastery of performance/musicianship, preliminary knowledge of music theories, skill in/ music analysis, and the written/aural presentation of analytic ideas.

Pedagogical Skill: The music theory graduate demonstrates a clear vision of theory curricula appropriate for pre-college and undergraduate students and demonstrates preparedness ability to develop sound plans and techniques for teaching music theory and musicianship. The graduate demonstrates classroom keyboard competency and emerging pedagogical skills.

Counterpoint and Composition: The music theory graduate demonstrates competency in music composition and writing within diverse stylistic idioms (including 16th and 18th century counterpoint idioms counterpoint and tonal and post-tonal model composition).

Keyboard: The music theory graduate demonstrates keyboard skills at a level consistent with classroom functionality.

Technology: The music theory graduate effectively utilizes technology to enhance the presentation of ideas and professional growth.
