Apply to Ithaca

Your Personalized Application Guide

Applying as a Freshman for the Fall semester.

  • You are also applying for music or theatre.
  • Ithaca College is your first choice so you'd like to apply for Early Decision.

STEP ONE: Apply online!

Ithaca accepts the Common Application exclusively.  Create an account and fill out the Common Application online.

To submit your application you must complete the Common Application, the Recommender Assignments section, and the College’s member section questions.

If you have applied to Ithaca before, you may be able to reactivate your previous application.

If you're applying as a freshman, you will need to submit:

  • Secondary school report and official high school transcripts
  • One letter of recommendation or teacher evaluation
  • $60 application fee

Music and theatre programs require an audition or interview.

The regular decision application deadline for all music and theatre programs is December 1.

Early Decision

The Office of Admission encourages qualified candidates who have selected Ithaca as their first choice to apply under the early decision program. Applications must be filed by November 1, with all supporting materials in place by November 15 (including an official transcript with first marking period grades indicated). Music and theatre arts candidates requiring auditions must audition on the first available audition date.

Students will be notified of the admission committee’s decision by December 15. Early decision is a first-choice, binding agreement, and those offered admission will be expected to submit an enrollment confirmation and nonrefundable advance deposit by February 1. Students offered early decision admission agree to withdraw applications submitted to other colleges or universities.

Early decision candidates seeking consideration for institutional financial aid must submit the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile application. Students must register for and submit the online application at least two weeks before the November 1 filing deadline. Students seeking financial aid must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

STEP THREE: Should I send my scores or not?

You may send us your standardized test scores if you like, but you don't have to.

Most students have the option to either submit SAT or ACT scores as part of their admission file, or withhold them altogether from consideration. Students who wish to submit scores must arrange for official scores to be sent to Ithaca College from the testing agency.

Odds are you listed Ithaca as a destination for your test scores before you answered your first multiple choice question. But if your interest in Ithaca is recent, make sure the proper testing agency sends us an official score report before the application deadline (your high school will have request forms).

Ithaca College School Codes:

  • CEEB (SAT) 2325
  • ACT 2772

If you took the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) we'll need a score report for that as well. Our recommended scores are 213 or higher on the TOEFL computer version, 80 or higher on the Internet-based version (iBT), and 6.0 or higher on the IELTS.

A score of 600 or its equivalent on the critical reading section of the SAT exempts applicants from the testing requirement.

For reporting test results, the Ithaca College code for TOEFL is 2325. There are no university and college codes for IELTS.

STEP FOUR: Apply for financial aid.

To apply for federal financial aid, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please submit the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile application to be considered for institutional aid.

The priority deadline to submit the FAFSA and CSS Profile is November 1 for early decision applicants and January 15 for early action and regular admission applicants.
