Frequently Asked Questions

My friends have already chosen their majors. Should I go ahead and declare mine?

Not necessarily. Many students need and, in fact, relish the opportunity to explore a range of disciplines before committing themselves to majors. You should consider applying to the college's innovative Exploratory Program, which allows you to explore academic interests for up to four semesters. The program matches you with a committed faculty adviser who will lend close guidance and support.

The academic director of the Exploratory Program offers information sessions for Exploratory students, and the Office of Career Services provides several workshops designed to help you find the right direction. The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs and the Ithaca Seminar Program offer additional resources that will help you make the most of the major you choose.
