Frequently Asked Questions

What are the application and audition procedures for music applicants?

All applicants intending to major or minor in any of the music programs (except composition) must schedule and perform an audition with the School of Music. An audition is optional for composition students, but an interview is required. See the School of Music website for specific details for each instrument.

Auditions may be performed on campus, at one of our off-campus audition sites, or in special instances by tape. Applicants are encouraged to audition on campus and should be aware that regional auditions are videotaped and reviewed at a later date by appropriate performance faculty. Percussion and organ auditions cannot take place at regional audition sites, but DVDs are acceptable.
