Frequently Asked Questions
What sports can I play at Ithaca College?
Our competitive intercollegiate athletics program will give you the team spirit: Men can compete in baseball, football, and wrestling, while women can compete in field hockey, gymnastics, softball, volleyball, sculling, and golf. Both men and women can gear up for basketball, crew, cross-country, soccer, lacrosse, swimming and diving, tennis, and indoor and outdoor track and field.
Ithaca College is a member of the NCAA's Division III. We are rated in the top 30 among 440 Division III athletic programs. We sponsor 27 intercollegiate sports and belong to the Empire 8 Conference. About 15% of our students compete in intercollegiate athletics. (As you may know, Division III prohibits athletic scholarships.)
And the sports don't end there: we have a large number of intramural teams, sport clubs, and activity courses. You can join in (or officiate) intramural basketball, floor hockey, soccer, softball, flag football, or volleyball games; or you may prefer to join a competitive or demonstration sport club (you can choose among nearly 40 clubs). About 60% of our students participate in intramural, club, and recreational sports.
