What clubs/organizations are you involved in?
I serve as the technical director of Macabre Theatre Ensemble. We’re a student-run company that focuses on horror, sci-fi, and avant-garde theatre. I’m also a member of the Ithaca College History Club, which is mainly a fun social group with some focus in educational work. I also participate in the Ithaca College branch of Habitat for Humanity and went on a weeklong service trip last January.
Have you been engaged in research, internship opportunities, student teaching, or conferences?
I was the IC Exploratory Program intern for the summer of 2018. I worked with the program director to run first-year orientation, developed and redesigned curriculum for the course Exploring the Options, and communicated with incoming students and families.
Why did you choose Ithaca College?
I chose Ithaca College for a lot of reasons. I applied as a theatre arts management major and was accepted into that program. It was an incredible opportunity, and I had dreamed of studying theatre at a college like Ithaca. I never had one of those moments where as soon as I stepped on campus I got the “right feeling.” I wanted to be far away from home, and Ithaca was the furthest away. I wanted a school with a good LGBTQ+ history, and Ithaca has good support and clubs for LGBTQ+ students. I wanted a school that had options and wasn’t going to leave me with dead ends whether that be academically, socially, or in any other way, and Ithaca had all of that. It felt right then, and it still feels right now—four years later. It feels right now for completely different reasons, and I think that’s what has made Ithaca College so great, and why, even after five major changes and some struggles, I’m really happy I made the choice to go to IC.
