What clubs/organizations are you involved in?
I have been a member of Premium Blend, an all-female-aligned a cappella group, since my freshman year. In my junior year, I took on the role of assistant conductor, arranging and teaching music for the group, and I now serve as the president of the group. Premium Blend has been one of the greatest parts of my time at Ithaca. It has given me a creative outlet, unforgettable memories, and lifelong friends.
Have you been engaged in research, internship opportunities, student teaching, or conferences?
In my junior year, I interned with Civic Ensemble, a theatre for social change organization in downtown Ithaca. This internship tied together my learning from my self-designed major, teaching me how to create ethical and impactful theatre. I built amazing connections with local theatre artists and gained new skills to help me develop as a professional in the theatre world.
What is the best class that you’ve taken so far and why?
The best class I’ve taken is hands down Dangerous Women in Dramatic Literature with Claire Gleitman in the English department. This class combined two things I love the most: plays and feminism. It also introduced me to my favorite professor, Claire, and I have taken a class with her every semester since! She has become a great mentor to me and is currently working with me on my independent study, where I am researching gender in modern dramatic literature.
Is there anything else you would want to share with a prospective student?
My major is integrative studies, which is IC’s option to create an individualized major. I got to combine all of my passions into one program in which I am learning how to become a socially conscious theatre artist. If you have any questions about creating your own major, please email me. I would love to tell you about how awesome the integrative studies program is!
