What clubs/organizations are you involved in on campus?
I am a now 4-year member of Ithaca’s only All Female-Aligned A Cappella Group called Premium Blend. It is an auditioned group so it is necessary to attend auditions and callbacks in order to get placed into the group but it is absolutely worth it. We sing all sorts of music but mainly our favorite pop songs and sing around the country in schools, nursing homes and other places that ask for our entertainment!
Have you studied abroad?
I studied abroad with a separate program from IC in Paris, France in the spring of 2020.
Have you been engaged in research, internship opportunities, student teaching, or conferences?
I have yet to do any internships or clinical placements for my major but I was a student teacher in the spring of 2019 in a second-grade classroom at South Hill Elementary school. I took the bus there from campus every other day for two months and learned so much from my mentor teacher and even more from the kids. This experience really helped me understand the feeling of working in a school setting and made me interested in possibly doing that with Speech Pathology. These student teaching hours were a requirement for the class mandatory for Sophomore Speech Pathology students called Early Field Experience.
What's your favorite spot on campus and why?
My favorite spot on campus would have to be the Natural Lands that we have available to us as students of IC. The natural lands stretch behind our campus for hundreds of acres. There are paths built that are free for everyone to explore and taking hikes out there is something I love to do on a weekly basis. It is incredible to have this massive outdoor area at our disposal and everyone takes amazing care of it. Environmental science majors and other majors are able to use this land as an outdoor classroom. It is an amazing place to explore and something so wonderful about the campus at IC!
