For Kevin Turnbull '15, it all started off with an application in early February to Marketing EDGE. “Congratulations! You are one of the top students from across the country selected to attend Marketing EDGE’s Interactive Marketing Analytics Xperience (I-MAX).”
Marketing EDGE’s I-MAX program is designed for college students interested in exploring a career in data-driven marketing. During the week-long program we were immersed in seminars focused on big data and marketing analytics. Kevin's initial desire to challenge himself and apply to the program came from his passion for marketing.
"As the Co-President of the Ithaca College American Marketing Association it is our mission is to further the professional development of students through leadership training and involvement in the field of marketing." said Kevin. He continues, "And what better way to do this than to educate our students on the value the Marketing EDGE offers through programs such as these." As C-President, Kevin's team is charged with managing all aspects of chapter operations including membership recruitment, market research, fundraising, event programming, sponsorship and professional development.
School of Business Dean Mary Ellen Zuckerman said, "We are very proud of Kevin for being accepted into this program. It is yet another way our students are getting real-world experience and professional development."
Of late, Kevin has been figuring out how we can utilize Google analytics to tag and capture data through our website and social media accounts in order to better prepare the organization to advertise and provide market research services off campus by developing concrete methodologies to approach different companies or organizations.
"The I-MAX program was not only an amazing educational experience but also an opportunity that allowed young students to learn from professionals and experts in their field of marketing analytics. After attending the I-MAX program I feel that I am better prepared to follow a career path where I can capture, sort, analyze, and effectively use the data. The program fostered networking and self-confidence but most importantly it promoted fun among a diverse group of individuals from all over the country. I truly enjoyed meeting everyone and have made life long friends." said Kevin.
Other schools represented were: Cornell, Princeton, Berkley, UPEN, TCNJ
