School of Business Hosts Alumni Panel, by Jackelyn Branco '14
On Tuesday, October 22, myself as well as thirty other students had the extraordinary opportunity to listen to and speak with three very distinguished alumni of Ithaca College. The three notable alumni students were able to meet with for a group discussion was Chris LaCroix ’79, an owner of LSV Asset Management; John Baumann ’72, recently retired Head of Institutional Sales and Client Services for the Americas and Europe at PineBridge Investments; and Kurt Wolfgruber ’72, owner of Piper Hill Partners and former President and Chief Investment Officer of Oppenheimer Funds.
This panel was a very special event for the School of Business, because the school welcomed back three of the most distinguished alumni who have had a very strong influence on the investment track. Over the past three years I have spent at Ithaca College, I’ve had the opportunity to take advantage of course offerings of the investment track, taking: Securities Analysis and Portfolio Management, Real-Time Portfolio Management I and II, as well as Hedge Fund Management I.
These courses have provided me a very unique opportunity to dive into the financial markets and gain an immense amount of real-life skills, such as use of the Bloomberg Terminals, which has differentiated myself from other students while searching for jobs and internships. An exceptional investment track full of hands-on experiences would not be possible without the commitment, generosity and dedication of alumni such as LaCroix, Baumann and Wolfgruber.
