Rashad G. Richardson “I Can Achieve” Memorial Scholarship

The Rashad G. Richardson "I Can Achieve" Memorial Scholarship is intended to recognize the leadership of BIPOC student at Ithaca College.  The ideal candidate will have made significant contributions toward improving the quality of life for BIPOC youth (K-12) in the Tompkins County community, their local community, or through a national organization dedicated to supporting BIPOC youth.

This award honors Rashad Galen (Gaylen) Richardson, who passed away in 2001 as a result of a school accident at the young age of 12 years old. He was a good-natured kid with an infectious, winning smile who loved to hang out with his friends and attend the after-school program at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) here in our local community. Being a good citizen mattered to young Rashad. He was a middle school National Junior Honor Society student, a gifted athlete, and a community service volunteer. The Rashad G. Richardson “I Can Achieve” Memorial Scholarship, here at Ithaca College celebrates the legacy of a bright and shining star.
