After filling out the Special Seating Request form, you will be issued a parking hanger and seating tickets. The parking hanger must be displayed at all times in order to obtain special parking and traffic considerations for the Commencement Eve Concert and for Commencement day activities. The seating ticket(s) are for the Commencement ceremony only.
Commencement Eve Concert – A & E Center
Those attending the Commencement Eve Concert should enter campus via the main entrance and will be directed to M-Lot. Shuttles will be available to assist with transporting people to the A&E Center mobility impaired/special assistance entrance. You must supply your own wheelchair if needed.
Commencement – Butterfield Stadium
Vehicles will be able to unload passengers at the back gate of the stadium, but will not be able to park there. After unloading, you will be directed to F-Lot where you will park your vehicle. We urge you to be at the back gate no later than 8:00 a.m. since there will be many people to accommodate. Please bring warm jackets or blankets as it may be cold, especially earlier in the morning.
In order to facilitate entrance to the back gate of the stadium, you will need to enter the South Hill Fire Station, which is approximately 1/10th of a mile south of the College’s main entrance on Route 96B. The parking hanger must be displayed to enter at the South Hill Fire Station.
For seating on the field, one pass will be provided for the person needing special assistance and another pass will be provided for someone from your party to sit with that person. Each person gaining entrance into the special seating area must have a Special Seating pass.
Commencement – Severe Weather Plan
In the case of severe weather in the morning, the outdoor ceremony may be postponed until 1:00 p.m., based upon the weather forecast. If severe weather is predicted for the entire day, the ceremony may be moved to the A&E Center in which case each student will have 3 tickets to distribute to family members. The A&E Center is fully mobility accessible.
Commencement Dismissal Procedure
The Ithaca College Office of Public Safety, in an attempt to assist guests attending the Commencement ceremony, utilizes shuttles and golf carts to transport individuals with mobility difficulties to and from the stadium seating.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the large number of guests needing transport results in congestion that can create delays in providing this assistance. In order to ensure the safety of everyone, we ask that you please be patient during this time and remain in your seat, as the golf carts will return as quickly as they can to transport you to a shuttle. Your cooperation is appreciated.
