DIIS facilitates communication and gathers feedback about technology issues through faculty and staff liaison groups. The groups have similar mandates but differing viewpoints and interests.
DIIS is committed to coordinating support between Digital Instruction and Information Services and other units on campus in order to blend technology skills with expertise in area disciplines. Liaisons do not have to be technically advanced but do have to be able to communicate ideas, issues and needs to DIIS and then be able to represent DIIS to the appropriate constituent group.
The goals of the programs are:
- To systematize and improve communication between DIIS and departments and schools
- To provide liaisons with a "first look" at new technologies, and when appropriate, ask liaisons to serve as "beta testers", or evaluators of new technology
- Coordinate technology planning, new installations, and the delivery of new software applications, with liaisons also acting as area coordinators
