|Celebrating the life and legacy of a social justice icon|
Every January, the Ithaca College community celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through a series of programs sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement & Multicultural Affairs.
The day serves as a reflection and celebration with programs and activities in lieu of classroom instruction. During years where the holiday falls before the first day of classes, the campus community spends the first week of classes in celebration with various events, programs, and discussions.
In 2016, the theme of the celebration was "Conscience Asks the Question," with a focus on what motivates us to be active in the movement for social justice; how to motivate others to participate; and on how we can be better activists, advocates, and allies.
