In spring 2007, faculty and staff were given the opportunity to provide input into the creation of an ethics and integrity policy that would continue the College’s commitment to excellence in creating a workplace built on respect and ethical behavior. An important component of this policy is a provision that allows an individual, who may not feel comfortable working directly with a supervisor to address compliance concerns related to federal and state laws and/or College policy, to exercise the ability to contact an external reporting site to report perceived violations.
The fall semester provided an opportunity for us to test the use of EthicsPoint as the new phone and Internet-based reporting system. I am pleased to announce that the entire community can now access the Ethics and Integrity Policy and the link to the EthicsPoint anonymous and confidential reporting system at www.ithaca.edu/ethics.
I thank all of you who participated in the development of this policy. I am confident that it will serve to strengthen what I know is a strong commitment to creating a community that values ethical behavior and evidences integrity in all that we do here at the College.
