Jason Diaz (Chemistry '08) has received a Supplementary Grant for ACS PRF SUPPLEMENT FOR UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITY RESEARCH for the period of summer 2007 - in conjunction with our 30K ACS PRF research grant "Advancing Organometallic Catalysis via Incorporating >Weakly-Coordinating Carborane Anions into Cationic Half-Sandwich >Electrophilic Complexes".

Jason will be presenting the results of his research at the ACS meeting in Philadelphia in August 2008.

> In summer 2007 we completed the purchase and installation of the state-of- the-art double-sized inert-atmosphere camera (30 K) - supported >Anna Larsens Research Corporation grant "Non-coordinating carborane counterions for cationic organometallic catalysis" matched by Ithaca College.

>Cole Lechleighter(Chemistry '10) has received a Supplementary Grant for the period of summer 2008 - in conjunction with our ACS PRF research grant "Advancing Organometallic Catalysis via Incorporating Weakly-Coordinating Carborane Anions into Cationic Half-Sandwich >Electrophilic Complexes".

 >John Dymon (Chemistry'10), Jesse Kleingardner (Chemistry'10), Ryan Wibby >(Chemistry'07) and professor Anna Larsen of Ithaca College >Chemistry Department co-authored a paper which was just accepted for  publication in Dalton Transactions (Journal of the Royal Chemical Society of Great Britain). The paper is also coauthored by collaborators in  Queens University (Belfast, Ireland), University of Wisconsin-Madison and  Vassar College (New York).  The paper reports the syntheses and physico-chemical behavior of the low  melting salts classified as ionic liquids - i.e. substances melting below >100 C while remaining completely ionic. All the research was carried in  Ithaca College laboratories, with X-ray analysis performed at the collaborator facilities.
