Our team is studying the perceived responsibility for disease onset focusing specifically on diabetes. Because we are involved in a long term project we wanted to be able to help the cause now by participating in a walk. We did a google search for diabetes walks and came across the American Diabetes website: (http://main.diabetes.org/site/PageServer?pagename=OUT_homepage&s_Affiliate=OUT_) We found a walk in Fayettville, we all signed up online and sent out emails asking for donations. We were able to surpass our goal of $1,500.00 in only a few short weeks. Together, “Team Ithaca College” raised $1,605.00! The walk took place October 25th and was a great experience for all. It was a great chance for the team to “step out” from the lab and take an active role in a hands-on activity that helps to provide funding to help combat this disease. It was a lot of fun and we look forward to taking part in a walk again soon!
