Victor Izzo received his BM in Music Education from Ithaca College and his Master of Science in Music from Western Connecticut State University. While at Ithaca he studied Euphonium with Walter Beeler and Marvin Howe and Trombone /Bass Trombone with Hubert Hutchinson and Reginald Fink. He has taught all levels of instrumental music in the Horseheads Central Schools, Spackenkill Union Free Schools and Wallkill Central School District. Under his direction the Wallkill HS Wind Ensemble consistently received superior ratings and performed for the New York State Music Educators Conference, Ithaca College Festival of Winds, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Potsdam and Festival of Music Award performances in Cape Cod, Boston, Washington and Atlanta. He has served as brass clinician and director for the SUNY New Paltz CYS Wind Ensemble, Ulster County Music Educators president, New York State Selection Committee for low brass and New York State Assistant Chair and General Chair for Conference All State Band.
Mr. Izzo retired from his public school career in 2003.
Currently, he directs the Community Band and Wind Ensemble( a group he developed) at SUNY Ulster and continues to direct the SUNY New Paltz CYS Wind Ensemble. Additionally, he instructs Fundamentals of Music, Music Theory and applied low brass at SUNY Ulster and SUNY New Paltz and supervises Student Teaching Field Service in the Hudson Valley for SUNY Fredonia and Ithaca College. Mr. Izzo has guest directed for Elementary, Middle School, High School All County and Area All State Bands, the Arlington HS Music Departments Festival of Winds, the RCK HS and John Jay HS Band Day, the Orange County Music Educators Wind Ensemble, and the SUNY New Paltz College Youth Symphony. He has performed Euphonium with the Hudson Valley Wind Symphony and Orange County Music Educators Wind Ensemble and Trombone with the Tudor Brass Players of New York, Staten Island Symphony, Newburgh Symphony and Hudson Valley Philharmonic. At present he is Trombonist and director for the Huguenot Brass Quintet.
Professional affiliations are NYSSMA, UCMEA, TUBA and PSIA.
He is an avid Cross Country Skier who coaches and instructs Nordic Skiing at Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center in the beloved Adirondacks where he and Jeri his wife of Fifty years plan on retiring from his retirement.
